Ways To Ease RSV Symptoms

Well Caleb's RSV is back to being more like a normal cold. It wasn't fun. But it could have been worse. He was diagnosed on Friday and we stopped needing to go into the hospital for nasal suctions yesterday (Monday.)

I am really grateful for the hospital suctioning. That really helped get the stuff that I couldn't get with a regular suction bulb. The humidifier helped tremendously! Caleb's room is so small that when we opened the door the humidity would flow out like heavy clouds. It was pretty neat. But it really Helped! We have a cold water humidifier. I wish that I had the warm water vaporizer too so I could alternate using the two. I would have used eucalyptus and lavender essential oils in the vaporizer. I boiled water on the stove instead and put Vicks Vapor Rub (I didn't have to essential oils) in the water. It worked alright (mostly because we have a really small house.)

When I suctioned out Caleb's nose I swaddled him in my Hawaiian lava lava wrap (you could use a large blanket or cut a sheet to 1/4 its size.) This REALLY helped! We had to suction so much and so often that it was a nice help.
I'm really grateful that it didn't end up being a lot worse!
