I know I say this every time, but I can Not believe Caleb is almost 8 months old. Time is flying so fast and my baby will be a toddler before I know it... I already miss his newborn baby stage. But I love every minute with him as he grows up. He is such a pleasant baby.
Sometimes we call him Mellow-Yellow, because he is calm and happy much of the time. However, this week he found his voice a little more. I can tell that he's trying to say something. But it just comes out in a rather annoying grunty whine. He is also frustrated because he wants to get around better. He is great at rolling around. He is working on scooting. But crawling is still in the future.
He loves to play with his toys and he LOVES his brother!!! He and Jakob are so cute when they play together. Sometimes out of the blue Jakob will say, "Good we have a baby now." Or, "It's good we have Caleb." Jakob is thrilled to have a play-mate. Even if they can't run around together yet.
Caleb seems to be growing steadily. I sat him on our scale here at home and he weighed around 17 pounds. I believe it. It's getting really hard to lug his car seat around. It really hurts my elbow. He still exclusively nurses. He will occasionally have a good meal of baby food (1 jar) but that is rare. So, I have to feed him as often as I can to make sure he's getting enough calories. I haven't kept track faithfully over a 24 hour period. But I think his feeding schedule would still average about every three hours around the clock. It seems crazy when I think about it. But honestly, nursing him is the only real time together that we get. It forces me to Stop and be with him. Often times I try to get Jakob to stay out of the room so I can just give Caleb all of my attention. Nursing still has great and noticeable benefits for my body. I know it's helped me get my weight down and I sleep So Much better at night.
Anyway, Caleb is doing really well. I am a bit concerned because his motor development seems a tiny bit delayed. But I'll just keep an eye on it and not worry unless he's not mobile by nine months. Other then that he seems happy and healthy.
